Silêncios, atmosferas e utopias

Silêncios, atmosferas e utopias (Silences, Atmospheres, and Utopias), reflects my interest on the permutation of a single motif as well as on the use of textural contrasts. The work is divided into three distinct moods: contemplation, suggested by the repetitive patterns at the end of the motivic exposition and usually accompanied by a decrescendo in dynamics, aggression, present in the fortissimo passages and at moments of alternate hand patterns, and mystery suggested by the ‘far away voices’ at pianissimo dynamic levels representing the utopias. As the piece develops, these moods start to reflect among themselves.
