Based on Antinous by Portuguese poet Fernando Pessoa (1888-1935), this work for tenor voice and piano was written for the tenor Dominic Armstrong. The narrative describes the profound sentiments of loss and tragedy experienced by Roman emperor Hadrian upon the death of his lover Antinous. This work is part of a larger monodrama-in-progress.
