I have always been interested in looking at Biblical and other mythical stories from the perspective of the minor or “evil” characters. Delilah’s Last Love took the form of a song, which eventually evolved into the starting point of my play, The Black Eyed. In this piece, I am attempting to explore how both real love and the desire to betray your lover can sometimes coexist.

II.
I long for madness,
for the strong that comes from the sweet letting go,
like a snip of the lock
from the hair
where your power to slaughter my people lay nestled in your whorls.
