“Impresiones y Paisajes” Rave Reviews
Posted on August 1, 2014
Impresiones y Paisajes (Impressions and Landscapes) had its premiere on May 16, 2014, at EMPAC, in Troy, NY. A commissioned work by the Albany Symphony Orchestra with funding by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Impresiones y Paisajes featured the choreography of virtuoso flamenco dancer Omayra Omaya. The Albany Times Union praised the work’s “gripping performance”, “high quality”, and “haunting music.”
Inspired by the writings of poet and playwright Federico García Lorca (1898-1936), the work makes reference to Lorca’s first book under the same name. Impresiones y Paisajes has the generous support of the Heirs of Federico García Lorca and the Federico García Lorca Foundation in Madrid, Spain.
